Our Principal, Traffilog helps Arriva to lower Fuel Consumption Arriva is one of the largest transport services organisation in Europe, employing more than 44,000 people and delivering more than one billion passenger‘s journeys across 12 European countries every year. Over 6 months of piloting period, Traffilog worked with Arriva to install Traffilog units in its buses and collected data to develop a baseline of driver profile. The main target of the piloting was to prove a reduction in fuel costs of route buses, and to promote Arriva as a ‘Green Fleet’ by decreasing CO2 emission. Pilot's results were outstanding, lowering fuel consumption by 10.2% and decreasing idle-time by 75%! Why manage fleet safety? For many people, the most dangerous thing they do while at work is drive on the public highway. Managing a fleet safety policy will save your organization money. Managing a fleet safety policy is a legal requirement in a number of jurisdictions around the world and organizations can be held accountable for any failures committed by its staff, or transport service providers. At the end of the day, the vehicle fleet is probably the most prominent symbol of the organization and driver behavior and vehicle use/misuse will affect how an organization is perceived thus impacting reputation. Traffilog launched its latest product, the DMAS (Driver Manoeuvre Alert System) The DMAS project is designed to increase vehicle fleet's safety as well as efficiency. The DMAS is a small LED display, resembling a traffic light, mounted on the vehicle's dashboard and alerts the driver in real time of the severity of the manoeuvres he is performing. Most drivers found it hard to recall a specific manoeuvre they performed or understand exactly which manoeuvre is considered a harsh one. The DMAS eliminates this problem by alerting the driver in real time as the faulty manoeuvre is being performed providing the driver with a full understanding of what he did wrong and allowing him to improve his driving behaviour throughout the same trip. In addition the DMAS displays the driver's score at the end of each trip (green for safe trip, yellow for improvement needed, and red for aggressive trip) a score that will also be displayed in Traffilog's application.
